In cricket the bowlers bowl in very good speed but these speed are determined by an instrument called speed gun.Actually speed gun is radar system .It works on the principle of doppler shift. actually this speed gun is also used by traffic police to determine the speed of the vehicles .speed gun consist of transmitter and receiver . these transmits the microwaves and these microwaves hit the ball and comebacks ,by this we can know the speed of the ball. But the disadvantage of this is it determines the instant speed .


The one more important technology used in cricket is HAWK EYE .means this especially used to determine the angle of the ball .it is often used in LBW situations in cricket. and also by using this technology we can also determine the speed of the ball touching the bat and speed of the ball after hitting the bat. The hawkeye is better then the speed gun .so these are the two important technology's used in cricket.If you want to know about your bowling speed .you can also determine it by using stopwatch means.you have to start the stopwatch when you bowling and you have to stop it when you released the ball from your hand .and then note down the time .

Actually speed means time/distance.so you have to divide the noted time by distance of your pitch there you will came to know about your bowling speed .this is simple technique to  determine the speed of your bowling!!!!. I hope you understand the concept of determining speed in cricket.As the technology improved the competition level in the cricket also increased.
